Help Others

Saturday, January 31, 2009

There are a lot of things you can do to help in your community, whether it's with your mom's chores, or if a friend is upset. Here are some little things you can do to reach out to other people.
Try to offer first. When people need your help, they'll most likely ask you first, but if you have the chance, try to offer to help before they ask you. This'll show that you were willing to help from the start. For example, if you see a friend struggling to carry groceries, offer to help. Or if you see them getting bullied, help stand up. Or if you see them getting pushed down or beaten, ask "Are you all right?" and help them up. Then try to cheer them up. Believe me, helping people will always make you feel better because it's the right thing to do.
Put yourself in someone else's shoes. Being compassionate can give you a strong reason to help someone else. It can also show people that you really do care about someone.
Volunteer or donate. Being in charitable organizations is a great way to help the less fortunate, like donating food or money to the poor.
Listen. You obviously can't know what you need to do if you're not even paying attention. Plus, people aren't going to rely on you very much if you act like you don't even care what they're saying.
Think about what might happen if you don't. More people will feel more miserable if you just leave them when they need you, and you don't want to see people unhappy, do you? Don't stress yourself too much, but it's always nice to lend a hand.
Observe. Find out what that certain person might like. For example: He/She is always folding up paper. You can buy a origami set and teach him/her your tricks. Or he/she seems bored a lot. Try spending time with them to play a board game or play cards.

Helping out is a great way to make new friends, too. Once people know they can trust you, they're more likely to help you out in return.
Even if you are in a bad mood, you will probably feel better yourself after helping others.
Helping can be just about anything so long that it is done in sincerity. Even a simple smile, "hello," or compliment could lift someone's spirit!
Hospitals and youth groups have many volunteering opportunities.
Spend time to become a close friend to that person, so he/she can look foward to your visits.
Even though at first it might be kind of awkward, keep trying!

Don't always expect rewards or praise in return. What really matters is that you were able to make someone happy. Besides, rewards usually come when you least expect it.
Keep in mind that they may not always need help. If someone says something like, "No thanks." or "I can handle it.", then just insisting may annoy them. You won't always be able to tell if they really do need your help, but it's best to back off if others are angry or in a hurry. However, if they refuse your help, you should ask one more time, and if they still refuse, then walk away.

Things You'll Need

* A person to help
* Spirit
* Some games
* Free time
* Hospital or youth group (optional)

Pack Without Overpacking

Friday, January 30, 2009

Many people fall victim to lugging large, heavy bags throughout the airport or train station when they go on a vacation. This "How-To" is the answer to their prayers.

Research the average climate and weather for your vacation spot during the month you are visiting.
With the weather information you just found in mind, pull the clothes from your closet that are climate appropriate to your destination. Be sure, however, that even if the weather is warm, you still pack a light waterproof jacket in case of rain.
Get the smallest suitcase possible that will hold the clothes you have set aside and a few other small items. The best would be to use a small rollerboard or backpack. Hard suitcases, while being protective, are harder to pack well and tend to be much heavier. You can fit more at less weight in a soft shell bag.
Try to match up just enough outfits for number of days you are going on vacation, if less than a couple of weeks. For a longer trip, be sure to have clothes that mix and match well. Reusing articles of clothing to make new outfits gives you a large variety with a smaller amount of clothing. One way to do this is to have the majority be staple colors such as whites, beige, browns and black. Throw in a few colored or patterned pieces to add variety.
The easiest way to have a lot of options is to pack accessories. Shoes are too bulky to carry a lot of, but be sure to have a casual pair and a slightly dressier pair. Remember, you can buy cheap flip flops just about anywhere, and you can throw them out at the airport before coming back home. Women especially can pack things like scarves, belts, and inexpensive jewelry, which will make any outfit unique.
Pack the clothes into the suitcase by rolling them. For shirts fold lengthwise before rolling, for pants fold in half lengthwise and then half horizontally. This allows you to fit more into a small suitcase. Be sure to keep clothes that wrinkle easily on the top.
Get together your toiletries and tuck them into the corners of the suitcase, or inside shoes. Be sure to wrap all of them in a plastic bag to make sure nothing gets ruined if they spill. Also keep in mind that that most hotels supply shampoo, conditioner and soap, and also most places sell travel size bottles, which help to keep the weight down.
Try not to over stuff, but if you find that you cannot fit everything you wanted, close the suitcase and stand it up overnight. The contents will settle and you will be able to fit more into the top by the next morning.
If all else fails, just pack as usual, then take half away. You probably will not need most of it, and unless you are trekking into rural or uncivilized areas of the world, you will be able to pick up anything you couldn't pack.

Be sure to roll the clothes instead of folding them. The only clothes that may be better folded are collared shirts or stiff pants, which have ironed creases. However, usually those types of clothes are not necessary on a trip, and if they are, it would be much wiser to put them into a garment bag which flight attendants will usually allow you to keep in the cabin closet.
Try to pack shoes that are neutral colors such as black, brown and white. These shoes will match with more outfits, so you will not have to pack as many shoes which will lighten up the load of the suitcase. If possible, pack shoes that can cross between dressy and casual, such as strappy sandals or leather loafers.
Squeeze all the air out of your pack, you'll get a lot more room. Remember, if you stand the bag up for a few hours, or even just close and shake down, you will end up with at least 3-5 extra inches of space in the top. This is a great place for bulky things like make-up cases or shaving kits.
Travelsmith.com has clothing that is reversible and can be washed out in the bathroom sink and will dry overnight. You may also want to invest in a roller backpack. They are the most efficient for trips where you will be going to many locations, you can wheel them or wear them as a backpack.
Be realistic. You might want to bring along, say, 5 different books, but what are the chances you're going to read them all? Plus, unless you are going somewhere special, the fancy clothes and fully matching outfits will not be needed. They will end up being a burden.

While packing for a vacation to a cold climate, it may be hard to pack all in one small suitcase because the clothes are bulkier. A larger suitcase may be necessary.
Remember to make sure that anything liquid or even anything that could melt is wrapped in plastic so that spills will not ruin everything else in your bag.
Be sure to check all zippers before you start packing to make sure that they zip easily, otherwise you will have to unpack everything later and change bags. This also goes for the wheels (if any) or straps.
If you are packing as a couple or as a family, be sure to keep the amounts as even as possible, so that one person will not have more or less changes of clothing than another. Also if you can share items such as t-shirts, keep that in mind while packing, it will help lessen the load.

How to Be Generous

Being generous begins with treating each person as though they have already achieved the potential for greatness that is in every one of us. It is in essence a sincere desire to make others' lives easier or more pleasant.

Remind yourself every day of the generosity you want to not only feel, but show.
When interacting with others, notice the things you could do to make their lives easier or happier. Even if you do not take action, awareness of your power to improve the world around you is key.
Think of specific ways you can be good to the people you know. I.e. if a friend or family member's name appears, list something nice you can do for that person. If it's a co-worker or teacher, think of how you might make his or her job easier--perhaps by helping someone finish a job or working hard, so the teacher can continue with new material.
Extend this thoughtfulness to strangers, even if all you do is smile and say hello, or let them on to the highway in front of you.
Think about how your action impacted them, i.e., they smiled and had a pleasant moment; they were able to get to their destination on time.
As you're consciously generous to others, it will get easier and easier. Soon the time will come when you're automatically generous. The natural progression is that others will be more generous to you. After all, it's true that "what goes around, comes around."
Remember that generosity is not just a decision, its a lifestyle.

* Generosity can also be forgiving a person's shortcomings or mistakes.
* Don't push yourself on being generous; just try to summon it as instinct tells you to.

Try to avoid being generous on cash, as it can cause some issues between you and others. If someone you know really well asks for it, consider the following: Are they going to pay it back? What will the money be used for? If you like the answers, then go on, but remember, don't give out your entire bank account, and try to find something in the deal for you - a return on your investment if you like.

Get the Perfect Valentine's Gift for Your Boyfriend

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Still looking for the perfect Valentine's gift for your boyfriend? Here's some tips on creating some more personalized, caring Valentine's gifts for the special boy or man in your life that will show just how much you care without getting too swept away by Valentine's mania.

Ask first! About a week before Valentine's Day, talk to your boyfriend and ask if he has anything special in mind that he'd appreciate. Don't ask too many questions, just a few sweet ones will do to give you an idea whether or not he has an interest in divulging any ideas.
Decide what type of romance he fancies. Does he really appreciate a romantic approach that will involve booking a special restaurant for a five-course meal or filling the swimming pool with rose petals? Or is he more comfortable with just the usual night on the town with lots of laughter and favorite beers as the two of you pub crawl? You know best how he feels, so make use of this knowledge to plan a special night together.
Do something rather than give something. If he has long wanted his hair dyed black, you could buy him some hair dye and prepare a home salon and dye it for him. Make sure you feel confident enough to get it right! You could also do this for home pedicures, massages, a yoga lesson etc. - anything you have said you'd get around to helping him do or learn some day.
Go homemade. It's not just about buying stuff. Valentine's is really about showing that you care. Make your boyfriend a card that says how much you love him. Write a poem or some sweet prose. Anything to say how much you care about him and the reasons why. Many people just love being told the exact reasons why they matter so much; this can be the best gift of all.
Give a kiss for a gift! Guys sometimes would just like a kiss. If you haven't given him one yet, wow, this will be special. But most of you will have already kissed; so it is how you present the kiss that matters. Take him somewhere unique and make the kiss something out of the ordinary. For example, take a trip up a cable car, take him in your arms in the cable car and say: "We are kissing on top of this mountain in a cable car because I really love you, you put me on top of the world and this is a Valentine's special". Kiss so long that the crowd claps you both.
Bake something for your sweetheart. Bake some heart-shaped cookies with hundreds and thousands and "I love you" printed on them in icing. Arrange in a box and present it to him with a card.
Decorate a photo of the two of you. Choose a perfect photo of the two of you, decorate a frame for it and write a little something to go with it, including why this photo means a lot to you. This is a very personalized and caring gift. You can even make a wallet-sized one and include a new wallet if you've got a good idea what sort of wallet he'd like. Put a good luck heart or coin in it as well.
Check the tips if you're out of ideas. There are some traditional stand-bys suggested there.

Guys don't usually like glass, that's a guy give girl thing.
Chocolates are good too.
Back up plan for any guy is maybe a sweater from some clothing store he likes or a t-shirt. Watches are always good presents too but they are for the more serious couples. If you're looking for something a little unpredictable and also trying to drop a hint, pick him up a pair of nice boxer shorts.
If He loves you that much, anything you do, he will love with all his heart and still give you kisses and hugs afterwards.

Don't buy him anything he has asked for unless you feel you should or you really wanted this advice and asked for it; you don't want to be predictable.
Don't feel bad if he doesn't like it; that's his fault for not being gracious enough to appreciate that the thought is what counts. If he can't appreciate you, then consider whether he's worth your time.

How to Be Your Own Valentine

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Okay, so you are not in a relationship at the moment. That doesn't mean you can't still enjoy instead of dread St Valentines Day. You can still have some fun. Besides, how often do you really treat yourself? This is your chance. Valentine’s Day is for showing our love. How about showing yourself some?

Make some preparations before hand by shopping for all the things that are going to make your evening with yourself amazing.
Pop out for a coffee, a quick drink or some take away and you might be surprised, and feel better about yourself, when you see just how many other people there are around who are not in relationships.

Candlelit bubble bath
Candlelit bubble bath
Back home begin with a glass of wine while soaking in a candle lit scented bubble bath.

Relax And Enjoy
Relax And Enjoy
Surround yourself with pink girly things, cushions, candles, flowers etc. Anyhting that reminds you of Valentine's Day but is not romantic will do splendidly.

Be comfortable
Be comfortable
Change into your soft fleecy pink PJs, or whatever else you feel most comfortable in.

Buy flowers
Buy flowers
Don't wait around for someone to buy you flowers - buy your own.

Buy chocolates
Buy chocolates
Don't hold your breath waiting for someone to buy you a box of chocolates - buy your own.
Take care of you - don't wait for someone else to do it.

If you feel like doing more for yourself, you could try a massage, a hair do, or just treat yourself to some new shoes. If you are in the mood for some company invite some single friends around - who knows, someone might click with someone. You could also make it a single girls night - but avoid lamenting over guys. If you decide to watch movies, avoid romantic movies and stick with comedy.

Avoid wine, just stick to roses and romantic type boxes of chocolate unless you want to end up drunk and feeling sorry for yourself!
It is highly advised that you do NOT tell all your friends about your special 'self-valentine' day. It might make you look a little bit strange

Create a Home Spa Experience Without Spending a Dime

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Here are some home spa tips that will make you look and feel like a million bucks. Squeeze a few more minutes into your daily routine for them, and become happier and fantastically refreshed!

Slow down. Take in the experience of an everyday activity that you usually fly through, such as a bath or shower, listening to a favorite song, or even getting dressed in a favorite outfit. Remember why each thing is special to you.
Use an essential oil compress to refresh and energize.
Shower with a gentle, scented gel and a body scrubber. There are many kinds of scrubbers - choose one that exfolites and stimulates your circulation without making you feel like you've just been rubbed by a cheese grater.
Soak in a bath. Add 5 to 10 drops of an essential oil to bath salts.
Be nice to yourself. These are your precious rejuvenating moments. Take your time.
Be gentle when washing your body or face. Scrubbing too hard or too vigorously can advance signs of aging in the skin.
Pamper your hair, which takes a beating both indoors and outdoors , all day long. Use a hot oil or deep conditioning treatment and spend the wait time reading a book in the tub!
Replenish lost moisture to your skin and hair by taking two tablespoons of organic flaxseed oil twice a day. You'll get rid of dry skin and combat wrinkles..
Treat your fabulous face like royalty. The skin on your face is thinner and more fragile than the rest of your body. Avoid extremely hot water, harsh soaps or any drying cleansers. Wash with gentle cleansers that don't dry out your skin, and always rub gently as you wash. Moisturize.
Tone and plump the skin on your face by putting an ice cube into a plastic bag, and rubbing it gently all over your face for a couple of minutes.
Rejuvenate from the inside as well.
Drink enough water so that you do not feel thirsty, particularly when you are hot or are exercising. (Any 'registered' dietitian will tell you that it is an urban myth that you *must* consume 8 to 10 glasses of water a day if you do not need it.)
Eat lots of whole foods, green vegetables, fresh fruits, grains, nuts and lean protein to reduce inflammation, replenish moisture and bring back a youthful glow.
Take 3 full, deep breaths from your abdomen (keep your shoulders still) to complete your simple happy essential home spa experience.
12. Make yourself a foot bath with a plastic bucket or any plastic bin that fits your feet comfortably with the water just above your ankles. Add two tablespoons of epson salts to the water. The water should be hot but, not too hot. Use from the tap and check as you fill with the back of your hand.
Sit in a comfortable chair with a magazine you have been meaning to read.
Find some New Age music "Ray Lynch is a good" I like the Album "Deep Breakfast" Relax and enjoy the moment. Headphones can shut out any outside noises and help create "your own space".
Pleasant scents from incense or candles can add to the relaxing effect.
The most important part is to slow down and enjoy the time. Evenings before bed are best as the relaxation carries over to your sleep time.

The benefits and joy you experience during your at home spa day will be more colored by your desire and your intentions than any fancy, expensive products you can buy. Be mindful, set your intentions and gradually transition in to or out of your work day.

Cook Foods That Go Together

Sunday, January 25, 2009

When entertaining, there are many factors to consider. For instance, do you have enough room for entertaining? What is the desired attire? In addition to these, you also need to adequately plan you meal. You will want to serve foods that are not only tasty but also go well with each other.

Choose complementary colors. It’s appealing to most people to see a nice color scheme, and it’s no different when viewing food. Granted, color of food is not often the main topic of conversation, but psychologically it does have an effect. When serving a bland color of meat, try enhancing its color by garnishing it with tomato or pepper relish. Topping vegetables such as carrots and mashed potatoes with a bit of butter also adds appealing color.
Try to serve a variety of sizes, shapes and proportions. Offering variety in form will visually interest the guests.
Use a variety of textures in food. This not only appeals to the eye but also to the taste buds. When serving something soft and smooth such as soups, add accent to the taste with something crunchy by serving a crisp salad or crusty hard rolls with it.

Try and cook a homogeneous meal and the rest will follow. If you are cooking Indian then cook only Indian; don't serve pasta along with chicken curry or moussaka with noodles.
If one food item is very bland, try to set it off by making another a little spicy.

Don't try and experiment without first reading up a few books or checking the Internet about what goes with what or which wine to serve with which meat.

Divorce & Restoring Your Credit

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Your lifestyle will almost certainly change when one household becomes two. You'll need a new budget -- and a realistic look at what you can afford for the next few years.

You survived the divorce. Now comes the hard part: getting your new single life on track, especially when it comes to money.

In many cases, the ex-wife has a larger amount of post-divorce financial work to do.

True, some women make more money than their husbands, but they are generally exceptions. And true, the ex-husband usually contributes to two households, his new single one as well as the one maintained by his ex-wife, who typically is the custodial parent of their children.

Your 5-minute guide to sudden singlehood

But the harsh reality of divorce is that the lower wage earner usually suffers the most financially. And that lower wage earner usually is the woman, who may have left the work force, at least temporarily, to care for children.

Even then, however, it's possible to get your post-divorce finances in order and ultimately prosper. The following tips and strategies should help. And much of the advice applies regardless of gender.
Get involved
It's the 21st century, but family finances aren't equal for many reasons.

Carol Arnott, a divorce financial analyst with Greenville Financial Group in Greenville, Del., cites a recent survey of married couples that found the men more likely to be in charge of investments, insurance and retirement planning. The women, meanwhile, focused on day-to-day budgeting and bill paying.

Talk back: How has divorce affected your finances?

In short, the men were more strategic when it came to money and more comfortable making decisions regarding their financial futures. So it's no surprise that most of Arnott's clients are women. And she's not shy about encouraging them to get involved with their finances and seek professional help "prior to filing or as soon as they're served with papers."

The first step in mastering your money is understanding it. To do that, you need to look completely and carefully at where you stand.

Renewing My Green Card

Friday, January 23, 2009

Wow, it's like not so long ago when I first got here (US). It was the 24 of December 1995. It was freezing cold. But I survive the cold. Anyway, It's that time of year.Fourteen years had pass that I have to renew my green card. I am not US citizen as you all know. I just haven't thought about becoming a US citizen yet. But, I am thinking about it.

I was browsing the internet last night, trying to find out how much is it cost to renew my green card. You would not believe it how expensive it is. My Green card will be expiring in September and I have to renew it within 6 months before it expire. The application fee cost $290 plus the biometrics fee of $80. Total filing fee = $370. I have to use Form I-90 renew it.

Can you imagine. Just add a few hundreds with that $370 for US citizenship.
But, can't complain, got to do it.

Start a Career in Information Technology

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Many people love the people in IT (Information Technology). This is a good field but it does not mean that you work with computers only. Helping others use their computers is often a big part of the job. This field is very big. From an ATM machine, to PC techies, to a graphic designer, these people are all in IT.

First, you must find out if you are already skilled in IT; most geeks are from the IT field. If you have a PC and use it for more than just typing and basic office work, then you have the right stuff for the job.
Make a list of what types of IT work you might be interested in. You can use Google to search for the types of fields available in IT. For example, if you love computer games, you can list "game testing," or "writing game software." If you enjoy designing, "graphic design" should go on your list.
Choose something that will make you happy. If you really enjoy it as a pastime, you will progress in skill much faster.
Get to know the right people. Many IT gurus love to assist people. Look into a formal or even casual apprenticeship. Make a geek your new best friend.
Once you know the right people and choose what fields to pursue, you can gather information about career options, rates of pay, likelihood of the field growing or shrinking over time, and so forth. This information will help you narrow your choices down to a select one or two ultimate job goals.
Search for educational opportunities in your area or online, and determine what the entry requirements are for each field of study. Make comparisons.
In some fields, it's possible to supplement self-taught skills with a few classes or an associate degree, and move right into the job market. The more education you get in the field, the better your income will probably be in the long run, but there are entry level jobs even for people with little education.
Look in to professional certifications. Even without a college degree an MCSE or A+ certification can gain you significant credibility.
Seek internships at reputable companies. An internship at Google or Microsoft will open a lot of doors for you later.
Write a competitive resume&e acute; and list it at Monster.com and/or other prominent internet job sites. Include any cities you'd be interested in moving to.
Take the best entry level job you can get, and in your spare time, focus on honing your skills and on keeping up with the constantly evolving applications, hardware, and software that you'll need to utilize.
Enjoy your new found celebrity geek status and your six-figure paycheck!

Don't give up hope. The fields of information technology are competitive and hectic.
Be prepared for constant change and a need to steadily increase your wealth of knowledge.
Have a strong sense of curiosity and a desire to know how things work.
Bring your unlimited patience. This field can often be frustrating.

Think carefully about your final career choice. Is this something you'll still want to do after 12 hours of things not going according to plan? What about a daily serving of constant frustration? Be sure this is what you want.
Expect dead ends. Sometimes, there are no easy solutions. Sometimes, you just have to start over.
Don't pick a job for the money. Pick it for your passion in that field. Then pick the highest paying job with the best opportunities.
When things go wrong, the IT department are the first ones to be blamed. When things go right, IT are the last ones to get credit. Do the job because you love it. Otherwise, you'll hate it.

Stop Eating Chocolate All of the Time

Chocolate cravings can be incredibly hard to stop, especially if you have been indulging in a bar or two of chocolate each day. Although research has shown the benefits of chocolate, these benefits are outweighed when we consume way too much chocolate and take in large amounts of saturated fat, caffeine, sugar and possibly an array of flavorings and fillings. Once you realize that it is time to pull back on the chocolate consumption, it's time to take it seriously and stop eating chocolate all of the time.

Be realistic. Cut down on rather than cut out chocolate. If you make a decision to completely deprive yourself of chocolate, it is likely that you will not succeed and your habit may well escalate. The truth is that chocolate makes most people feel good and has its own way of making us want to come back for more.
Schedule reasonable occasions for when you can indulge in a little chocolate, such as after a sports game you have played in, after a hike, on the weekend etc. Map out the times when you are most likely to reach for chocolate, such as the afternoon slump or when you feel bored, and reach for a glass of water or a handful of nuts or sultanas instead. Do something rather than letting boredom be the source of your desire to munch away.
Back up realism with quality. Go for quality in small amounts rather than eating large amounts of poor quality chocolate. Good quality chocolate is high in cocoa and generally lacks fillings and artificial flavorings and colorings. If you avoid "candy chocolate", suddenly a lot of chocolate choices are off the menu and you will find it easier to enjoy quality chocolate properly on suitable occasions.
Avoid places where chocolate is on display. Walk on the other side of the street rather than by the window of that sweet little chocolate shop. When you go to the grocery store, avoid walking by the chocolate aisle. At the checkout, try to go for the checkout that is confectionery free, or simply look elsewhere.
Don't keep chocolate in the house. Temptation is only at the reach of a hand when you keep chocolate stashes in the home.
Try to substitute chocolate with less fattening options. Try gum, fruit, small amounts of dried fruit or celery sticks.
Consider whether your daily chocolate cravings may be a form of food addiction. Chocolate contains chemicals that make us feel good. If you are relying in this aspect of chocolate regularly, it may be that you need to face underlying reasons as to why you seek chocolate as a source of medicating or calming yourself on a daily basis. If you are stressed, suffering from anxiety disorders or you aren't quite sure what's wrong, seek professional assistance to deal with the root of the problem.

You may eat chocolate occasionally, but only if you think that you won't become addicted to it again.
Carob is still a source of saturated fat and does not contain the same elements that make chocolate so delicious. If you make a decision to substitute carob for chocolate on the grounds that it will be a fair taste substitute and that it is healthier for you, you are going down the wrong track. It is better to eat smaller amounts of high quality chocolate than to indulge in supermarket quality carob drops that contain hydrogenated vegetable fat, sweeteners and just as many calories. If you genuinely enjoy carob, by all means eat it but also keep it in moderation and seek quality versions of it.
Accept those times in life when the only comforter on Earth is chocolate; sometimes these days happen and once in a while, giving in to this need will not harm you.
Chocolate can bring on headaches in some people (it has a high content of phenylethylamine). If you notice such a connection when you consume chocolate, you have an added incentive to cut down. Heartburn and acid reflux can also occur from eating chocolate. Unfortunately, chocolate is also a culprit in swelling, so downing it at that time of the month may be counterproductive![2]

You may become addicted to whatever you are using as a substitute for chocolate. If so, recognize that you have an addictive nature when it comes to food and find coping techniques for dealing with this.

Advertise Your Home Business Online

Thursday, January 15, 2009

When you start a home based business, it is essential to gain an edge over other competitors offering same products or services in your market. In order to attract customers to your site you will have to promote your site through advertisements. Even if the quality of the product or service you offer is the best, it will not gain attention from the customers. Without advertisement, there will be no sales and no revenue.

Pay attention to the market. Currently, there is a trend towards digitalization. You can create a domain with an attractive dot com and file your site to free web directories. This can add great value to the products and services you are offering.
Try shared advertising on the internet. Here you need to find people who are also in need of product exposure at least expenditure, and merge your advertisement along with their product. This method gives definite benefits as long as you differentiate your product well from the others. It can also be less expensive. Any surfer that comes to visit the other product or service will definitely have a look at yours. Shared advertisement is very common on the internet. The more advertisers you share with, the greater the exposure of your product.
Use banners with good designs can prove effective. Well-designed banners can attract more attention from the customers and provide credibility to the product.
Advertise through ezines, classified ads, and blogs. This can also attract the attention of the customers to a great extent.
Link up with partners who sell a different product or even the same product. You pull advertising dollars and you will rotate each others sites on your prospective sites. For example: John will rotate Willie's and Bob's website on his site and they will do the same for Willie, this will increase each members exposure to a broader audience. This technique could also be used for classified ads, solo ads, and any other promotion technique you could ever dream about.
Barter/Trade. If you have a website with a high page rank, you could negotiate with another webmaster/ezine owner. You could trade links for an advertisement. The possibilities are endless with this technique.
Add your url to search engines and directories.

Whichever method you follow, it is essential to see that the advertisements are clear and impressive. It should state all the qualities of the product in a clear and crisp manner to attract the attention of the customers.
A lot of the information mentioned above can be done for free. Just type these suggestions into your google search engine.

Be Adventurous

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Tired of doing the same old thing? Want to spice things up? There's more to being adventurous than traveling and climbing mountains. The formula for adventure is really quite simple: Novelty + courage = adventure. So,what are you waiting for?

Put a new twist on the same old thing. Come into your house through your window instead of your front door. Take the long road home. Study the kama sutra. Cook an exotic meal. Wear something totally out of character. Go to a movie in your high school prom dress. Learn a new language and whisper sweet nothings into the ear of your loved one, or the hottie at the bar. Whatever it is that you're doing, ask yourself: "How can I do this differently?" Even something as mundane as brushing your teeth can take on a whole new level of fun when you practice a tap dancing routine or belly dance at the same time!
Conquer your fears. You know what they are, and once you overcome them, that'll open the door to a whole new set of adventures. Whether it's heights, public speaking, karaoke, your mother-in-law...face it. Remember that fear is a biological response to worrying about death. If the situation that scares you isn't life-threatening, there isn't any reason to be scared!
Talk to strangers. The best way to find new adventures is through new people. Everybody has different experiences and a different background; every person can teach you something new. Maybe that guy sitting across from you at the coffee shop can show you how to climb a mountain. Maybe the old lady in the library can teach you how to preserve fifty pounds of tomatoes. Maybe the quiet girl at the bar can offer you a place to stay with her cousin in Buenos Aires, or Budapest, or Bolivia. Get over your approach anxiety and start talking to people! Who cares if they brush you off? What's the big deal? It isn't going to kill you, right? (Well....see the Warnings below.)
Try new things. Always be on the lookout for new things to do. Read the local papers, and ask people (now that you're chatting up a storm with strangers) what they're doing in their spare time. Go to a local farm and ask if you can milk a cow. Film a documentary. Take a ballet or salsa dance class. Meditate with Buddhist monks. Whatever it is, approach it with an open mind and a good attitude, and thank people for giving you the opportunity for trying something new.
Get lost! Explore new territory. Once in a while, spend a day off just driving around randomly and seeing what you come across. (If you have a map and aren't too isolated, you should be able to find your way home.) If you have the means to do so, visit another country. Even if you can't travel, you can climb the tree in your backyard--that's new territory, and you'll probably enjoy the view!
Make a bucket list. A bucket list is a list of things you want to do before you "kick the bucket". Surely, you don't want to die having followed the same old routine, day in, day out, do you? So write up that list - complete with goals big and small, like skydiving in Peru, and whistling with a blade of grass - and get to it!
Live in the moment. Adventurers are experts in focusing on the journey rather than the destination. Yes, they usually have a goal in mind, but when you're trying new things, plans always change and your route will, too! You'll need to be resourceful and, more importantly, be a good sport. When things go wrong (which they will, or else you're not pushing far enough outside your comfort zone) don't get moody and distraught; outline your options, pick one, and charge forward with your life. And have fun!

Get fit. Many adventures require physical exertion, so while you don't have to look like a supermodel, you should be able to climb a few flights of stairs without losing your breath.

Live in the Moment

Living in the moment is all about living like there's no tomorrow. It takes practice but in the end, you'll lead a fuller life. To do this you must realize beauty in every moment, and in everyday activities. This is your life, now live!

Take notice of the world around you. No matter what you're doing, try to find something beautiful around you. Maybe on your way to work or school, you go over a beautiful bridge, or you get a view of the sunrise behind the city buildings. Realizing these small things can bring life and happiness even to the most boring or routine days. Be thankful for those little things.

Focus on whatever you're doing. Even if you're just walking, or wiping the counter, or shuffling cards - how does it feel? There's probably some kind of commentary spinning through your mind, and it probably has to do with something other than what you're doing. Let those thoughts go and focus on what is (not what was, or what could be). In Buddhism, this is referred to as mindfulness. Pay attention to your senses - touch, sight, smell, sound, and taste. Pretend it's the very last time you'll ever experience whatever you're experiencing. Have you ever been so engrossed in something that it seemed like the rest of the world just disappeared? Living in the moment is about creating that state of mind at any time. Slow down, and try to savor the present.
Smile when you wake up. You can set the tone of appreciation and awareness for the next 24 hours by simply waking up and smiling.[1] Don't wake up with a groan and a smash of your alarm clock. There's scientific proof that the expressions that you make with your face can actually influence how you feel.[2] In particular, true happiness is most closely tied to a Duchenne smile which involves smiling with your eyes, as well as your mouth.[3]
Commit random, spontaneous acts of kindness. Whether it's donating 1 dollar to a fund at the pharmacy, picking up litter, or helping victims of natural disasters, keep alert in every moment of your day for some way in which you can make the world a better place. Even the smallest thing, like complimenting someone, can bring joy. It's the most spontaneous and unexpected acts of kindness that produce the greatest impact, and you can't be sensitive to those kinds of opportunities unless you're living in the moment.
Minimize activities that dull your awareness of the moment. What are you doing that tempts your mind to run away from the present? For most people, watching television puts you in a passive state of mind, and time slips right by. Daydreaming and getting lost in a good movie or book isn't bad, but it's not living in the moment because it places your concentration on something that isn't right here, right now; it's a form of escapism. Don't zone out; zone in. Do things that are active, and that encourage you to look around and engage the world in that moment. Gardening, playing a game, knitting, and playing an instrument are all activities that lend themselves to mindfulness. So get off the computer after reading this article!
Be Thankful for what is. When you find yourself wishing for something you don't have, or wishing your life would be different, start your quest for your wish by being thankful for what is already in your life. This will bring you back to the present moment. Make a list of what you are thankful for right now even if all you can think of is that you are alive and can breathe. You don't want miss the gifts right in front of you because you are always looking beyond what is in the present moment to what once was or what might be. If you are thankful for what is, you'll be happy to be in the moment instead of somewhere else.

Be Amazing and Fit After 50

Small steps any woman (or man) can take to slow the aging process and live a healthier life

Exercise --The simplest and easiest way to take one necessary step toward being fit and fabulous is to exercise. I’m not talking about running to the gym five days a week, pumping iron or cycling until you drop. I’m talking about something simple that you can do at a moderate level every day. I’m talking about walking. Walking is easy to do and requires no equipment except a good pair of shoes, and can be done anywhere and at any time. A brisk pace for 45 – 60 minutes for 5 to 7 days a week can reduce fatigue, promote weight loss, lower blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol, and prevent osteoporosis, diabetes and heart problems. Moderate exercise is also a de-stressor and muscle builder.
Quit Smoking--Smoking is the number one preventable cause of aging and illness in older adults. Excess deaths from cigarette smoking increase with age. Sixty percent of all smokers began by age 13. For them, aging begins at 13 and not at 30 as in non-smokers. Tobacco is the only product that when used as intended can and probably will kill you. You can add memory loss to the long list of health problems that come from smoking. Smokers may have twice the risk of getting Alzheimer's disease as do people who have never smoked. Stop now — it's never too late. If you quit smoking now, you can still reduce your risk of memory loss later in life. The fact that people who smoke develop wrinkles at an earlier age than their non-smoking counterparts seems to be due degrading enzymes A study from Ohio State University shows that using hypnosis to quit smoking is 30 percent effective in men and 23 effective in women. .. "Women seem more likely to smoke in response to stress or anxiety than men do.”
Manage Stress--Stress can make you sick and look older than your years. If you are under stress it shows in you face, in your attitude and in your sleep habits. Stress is the primary cause of insomnia, and without adequate sleep, you age much faster.
Self hypnosis is an excellent way to de-stress your life. Simply distressing affirmations are available at Achieve-With-Hypnosis.
Get Enough Sleep--Most people do not get enough sleep! For nearly 40% of Americans, this time is usually filled with tossing, turning, and frequent waking. These are textbook symptoms of insomnia, the most common sleep disorder in the United States. Seven to eight hours of sleep of night is optimum, and most of us don’t get that. Without adequate sleep, when the body rejuvenates, you awaken tired, with dark circles and puffy eyes. Wrinkling Is another sign of not getting enough sleep. Sleep can be enhanced by several different activities: adequate exercise, proper eating habits, weight loss, limiting alcohol and quitting smoking. Without doing these things, sleep can be a commodity that can not be bought at any price.
Make Diet Changes--Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Many of these contain antioxidants — substances that protect and nourish brain cells. And antioxidants may help prevent cholesterol from damaging the lining of your arteries and slowing blood flow to your brain. Foods high in antioxidants include colorful fruits and vegetables, such as oranges, berries, broccoli, spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes and tomatoes. Supplement your diet with high quality vitamins, herbs, and minerals.

One in a Life Time

Here is my Obama's hat. I got it the other day. As I can't deny, I am Pres-elect Obama fan. I know that everyone would not agree with me, but he would be a great Pres. He is one of a kind person. To have a President only happened one in a life time. So,anyway I made my point. You can make yours as well.

Saw this hat, and I couldn't resist to get one so, I bought it. The white one is mine, and my boo's hat is the black one.

How to Do Nordic Walking

Friday, January 9, 2009

You've seen 'em walking down the street with poles in the summertime. It looks like they are skiing cross country, but there is not a flake of snow to be seen! What on earth are they doing and how can you join in on the fun?

Obtain a sturdy set of Nordic walking poles, sized appropriately for your height. Good quality poles will come with hand straps.
Go outside before beginning your first session.
Hold the left-handed pole in your left hand and slip your left hand into the strap. Firmly affix the strap using your right hand. Now place your right hand into the strap of the right-handed pole and affix the strap firmly.
Walk normally, and do not actually use the poles at first. Just let them dangle from your hands as you walk. This will help you get the feel of how this works.
Imagine a line on the ground perpendicular (at exact monoplanar right angles) to your chest.
Grasp the poles and move forward with your right foot, stepping on the imaginary line you have drawn. Put down the left pole down at the same time, on that same imaginary line. Your left pole will hit the ground at the same time as your right foot. Now just push down and backwards as you walk through the stride.
Complete your stride and now step down with your left foot.
Place the right pole down as you step. Once again, the pole and the foot will touch down at the same time, and on a new imaginary line drawn on the ground perpendicular to your chest.
Practice in this manner for about 30 strides or so and you will probably be able to pick up some good speed.

There are poles are made specifically for nordic walking, and these will work a lot better than a pair of old ski poles.
One-piece Nordic Walking poles custom fit to your height (similar to ski poles) are safer, lighter and much more durable than twist-locking adjustable length/telescoping/collapsible poles.

Fashion Trends with Staying Power

Experts predict which fads have come and gone — and which will come back again and again.

Leather Bomber Jacket
Why It Keeps Coming Back: Strictly for the cockpit set when it debuted during World War II, the bomber jacket, which saw plenty of action on terra firma after it caught on with 80s-era trendsetters, like Madonna, is “chic and a little tough at the same time,” explains Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York City.

Keep It If: The cut flatters you and the style sticks as close to the original as possible, as any major variations tend to look passé. Take stock of the cuffs, too: “Leather cuffs are more classic than the ones with the knit ribbing,” says Kathryn Finney, author of How to Be a Budget Fashionista (Ballantine Books, $13, www.amazon.com).

Toss It If: It’s exaggerated in any way. “No tight sleeves, loose bodies, or belts,” cautions Robert Verdi, a fashion stylist based in New York City. “And if it’s red with an embroidered eight ball on the back, ditch it.”

I Got Slap by Google

I have not blog for a few days since new years eve. This blog of mine had PR2 but when I log into my blog the other day, my PR was gone. I was so disappointed. My PR went down to zero, from PR2 to nothing.I contacted PPP support center just if they knew what is going on, and this is what they say:

(1/6/2009 12:25 PM EDT)

Hi Jane,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, no one knows why Google Page Rank has updated for so many bloggers. One theory is that they are discounting paid links, however, many sites that do not participate in paid programs have also experienced a drop in rankings.

Some people think it has more to do with the no-follow tags and still others think it is the incestuous nature of blogs (everyone is linked to everyone else).

For now, we will continue to utilize PR in the PPP Marketplace. However PR is not a segmenting factor in SocialSpark.

In addition, with the recent launch of RealRank in the Izea Marketplace, page rank will not be of as much importance since our system is now able to provide actual traffic metrics instead of estimates and elusive algorithmic theories.

I hope this helps!

Should you have any further questions, pleas don't hesitate to open a new ticket to Customer Love.

All the Best,
Carri

I noticed that if your blog have a PR of any count you always get the chance to get oppps more often. It really hurt! I got slap by google
