Wear a Halter Dress

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Celebrities and divas alike turn to the halter dress for that glamorous look. We all know that it is one of the sexiest formal dresses around. The halter dress style consists of two pieces of material that tie or are sewn behind the neck.

1. Choose your style. Several variations exist, including a knot-front halter and the very popular look where the straps tie behind the neck.
2. Consider straps. They can vary in size from spaghetti-width to wide. Some halter straps are adjustable, others provide elastic for added comfort.
3. Understand Halter dress's call extra attention to the upper half of your body. This includes your shoulder, face, and bust. An added advantage of this style of dress is it draws unwanted attention away from hips or legs.

Skip a necklace when wearing a halter style dress. It just becomes too "busy" at the neckline. If you are going for an extra glam look, opt for long earrings and pulled up hair. Make sure no bra straps are showing.

Avoid dresses that are way too short or way too tight. A smaller size actually makes you look bigger. Halter dresses that are extremely exposing and that don't have enough fabric around the bust do not flatter large busted women.
