You decided you're ready to get pregnant. Great! However, before you start trying, take a step to prepare the best possible uteri environment for your child during pregnancy.
Have a preconception checkup. This will allow your doctor to evaluate your health, review your medications,administer any necessary immunizations and help you plan a lifestyle changes necessary for a health pregnancy. This is specially important if you have a chronic health condition, or if either you or your partner has a family history of a serious inherited disorder.
Begin taking a prenatal vitamin with polic acid. This B vitamin helps prevent a serious birth defects in early pregnancy.
Make healthy lifestyle choices. Eat nutritious foods,exercise regularly and keep stress under control. These same habits will serve you and your baby well during pregnancy.
If You smoke or use tobacco product, stop. Tobacco changes the cervical mucus, which may keep your partner's sperm from reaching your egg. Smoking may also increase the risk of miscarriage. If you need help stopping smoking, ask your doctor about resources to help you quite.
Stop Drinking alcohol. If you use illicit drugs ,stop using those too.
Have your partner adopt a healthy lifestyle, too. A healthy family will make for a healthier baby.
