Relieve a Tension Headache

Friday, July 31, 2009

In our stressful world of traffic jams, tight deadlines and high-speed everything, it's no wonder we find ourselves taking an occasional painkiller. For a bad headache, take two 500mg paracetamol tablets or two 200mg ibuprofen tablets. Aspirin is also an effective painkiller but is not suitable for anyone under 18 years, or who has an allergy to aspirin. However, painkillers are only part of the solution. There's much more you can do to escape the thump of a throbbing head.

Place a hot compress on your fore-head or the back of your neck. The heat will help to relax knotted up muscles in this area. Apply compress with vinegar (preferably home-made, apple vinegar) to your head. If you don't have cardiovascular problems and you can stand it, hot shower (~140 F) for 20 minutes can bring you instant relief. Have a strong cup of coffee or energy drink. Caffeine reduces blood-vessel swelling, and thus can help to relieve a headache. This is why caffeine is an ingredient in some extra-strength painkillers like Anadin Extra. If you are already a heavy coffee drinker, don't try this. Caffeine withdrawal can cause headaches, creating a vicious cycle. Wring out two wet peppermint tea bags and place them on your closed eyelids or forehead for five minutes. If you have a vaporizer... Add 7 drops of lavender oil. Add 3 drops of peppermint oil. Breathe in the relief. Alternatively you could also try sprinkling a few drops of peppermint oil onto a tissue and inhaling deeply several times. Herbal teas can be used to help ease the pain of a tension headache. Choose whichever flavor helps you relax, be it cooling peppermint or calming chamomile.
Spend some time relaxing your mind. Visualize a calm scene, such as a green forest or blue ocean, and take deep breaths. Without doing anything, have the thought of allowing your neck go free. Tension in the neck and shoulders can often be the cause of headaches.

Massage the temples, shoulders, neck or any other area where you feel tension. Tense areas usually feel tight and hard, and are easy to recognize. Essential oils can be incorporated into massage to aid relaxation. Lavender is a well-known relaxant. Apply an ice pack to your neck for 10 minutes.
Tension headaches can be caused by eye strain, so ensure you take at least a ten-minute screen break every hour. Close your eyes and cup them with the palms of each hand, apply light pressure and hold for 2 minutes. Visit your optician to ensure you do not need glasses.Headaches can be caused by dehydration. Try to increase your water intake to between 6 and 8 glasses a day. If you clench your jaw or grit your teeth, make an effort to relax your face. Try yawning to reduce facial tension. Go to the toilet, sometimes this helps.

Tension headaches can be a result of all-over body tension caused by stress or anxiety. If you find there is a great deal of tension in your shoulders and neck, consider contacting an Alexander Technique teacher in your area.If you suffer from frequent or severe headaches you should see a doctor as soon as possible.

What Does Your Handwriting Say About You?

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

I was visiting Sir David at Basic Bloganomics, and this tag called "What Does Your Handwriting Say About You?" caught my attention and it is quiet interesting to me and I decided to grab it.

Your Handwriting Says You Are Not Traditional

You are a laid back person with rather low energy. You aren't lazy... you *are* sensitive and empathetic.

You are very extroverted and outgoing. You are loving, friendly, and supportive. However, you are also manipulative and controlling at times.

You are very detail oriented and meticulous. You are a careful thinker and a true intellectual.

You need a bit of space in your life, but you're not a recluse. You expect people to give you a small amount of privacy, and you respect their privacy as well.

You are a free thinker. You are unique, open minded, and artistic. You don't care what other people think.

You are a decent communicator. You eventually get your point across, but sometimes you leave things a bit ambiguous.

I also wanted to open this tag for a grab, this tag is very interesting so happy tagging guys.

Look Drop Dead Gorgeous

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

So you want to be noticed by every guy in the world?! Are you tired of looking "blah?" If you're ready to revamp your look and turn heads, keep reading. We all want to be noticed and loved by everyone. You can be the prettiest girl in the room. This article will tell you how to be hot, sexy, pretty... well, drop dead gorgeous.

For Girls:
1. Apply Makeup if you Need It. Sometimes you'll hear that you don't need all that makeup, and it's true; don't over do it. To do your makeup start by washing your face and then using a glow moisturizer. Clear up or avoid any acne. Wear concealer, foundation and bronzer, if necessary. on your apples (the rounds of your cheeks that show up when you smile hard) and a very little bit on your chin and nose. Wear blush just below your cheek bones. For your eyes, use an eyeshadow that accentuates your eye colour, then curl your eyelashes. Use one or two coats of mascara and then a jet black eyeliner, depending on how intense you want to look and the color of your skin. Fare skin calls for a brown eye liner, whereas darker skin needs a darker shade. Then put on a lipstick or lipgloss that is the same colour as your blush, or else also looks good with your skin tone. Strive for flawless skin. Protect your skin from the sun and do your skin a favor and don't do tanning beds, because this will ruin your skin later in life, so instead use bronzing lotions. Enhance the shape of your lips with a light pink lipliner, use nude, creamy, a bit shiny lipstick, put on some pink blush, a bit of mascara and some shiny light pink eyeshadow on the center of your eyelids. Or the same makeup, with your eyes carefully contoured with black eyeliner, instead of the light pink eyeshadow. On this model, you can think of other ways to aply makeup, keeping it natural at the same time.
2. Hair. Brush your every day using a detangler spray to keep the tangles away. Whatever hairstyle you like make sure you work it. Get a straight iron, curling iron and even a crimper. Go to the salon and ask what style will suit your face. Work with it a lot and use the right products. Experiment with a lot of different hairstyles. Make sure the shade of your hair is vibrant. Consider going to a proper, expensive hairdresser. The extra money is worth it, and the products they use are much better quality. If you're not sure what hair cut looks good on you, ask your stylist what haircuts suit your face shape (round, oval, square, heart shaped). To get it curly lightly apply hair with styling spray and use a medium-sized iron to curl varying widths of hair. Undo slightly with your fingers. Then put mousse in. To get it straight use a dab of shine serum on damp strands before blow-drying with a paddle brush then use a straightener.
3. Wear cute but not revealing clothes. Be super stylish and a little funky. Shop a lot and buy fashion magazines to keep up with the hottest trends. Find the Perfect Outfit. Buy anything that you think is cute from any of your favourite stores. Get 5 T shirts, 3 flipflops in 3 different colors, 5 tanktops, as many hoodies as you want, and at least 3 pairs of jeans.
4. Exercise.
Work on your shape. If you feel confident the way you are, then do not change anything. Part of being drop dead gorgeous is to have confidence in yourself.
5. Smile. People look better when they smile. Use a brand of whitening strips that you trust and take good care of your teeth. Go to the dentist often and get braces if you need them its better to get them as a kid then a teen and its better to get it as a teen than an adult. Smile! You can even practice smiling in the mirror it'll be a great start to your day and set you off in the right mood. You never know who is appreciating your smile.Brush your teeth after each meal to avoid having bad breath. If your teeth are not naturally white, go to a dentist to have done a professional whitening; if your teeth are white, keep them that way by avoiding smoking, Coke, and too much coffee.

For Boys:
1. Hygiene. Shower!!! Wash your hair and shower every day. Be clean.
2. Pay Attention to Your Skin. Some guys look better without facial hair. (Ask your female friends for their truthful opinion.) If you're one of those guys, strive for a clean cut with no goatees, mustaches or beards! If you're one of those guys who look sexy with facial hair, go for it. Practically nobody admires a hairy back. Consider shaving or waxing it. Shaving your stomach, legs, and arms might be a bit excessive, but if you have very thick hair growth in those areas, it might be a good idea. You might also want to think about using a trimmer if you're really hairy and don't want to shave. Keep your skin nice and keep you facial hair in check. Also, maybe tanning a bit would be helpful. Don't be snow white. Have at least some color. Just don't over do it.
3. Be Confident. Be confident and nice to everyone but not stuck up. Don't show off too much. But remember showing off can turn the girls on.
4. Clothes. Wear cute but not revealing clothes. You don't need to always look perfect and neat. Definitely get any clothes that you feel and look GREAT in (once again, ask any girl friends what looks hot and what does not). Boys, you look good in jeans. Keep away from linens except for on holiday and shell suit trackies are not for everyday. If you're the athletic type, then try cotton joggers instead.
5. Hair. Have any hair-style that looks good on you and makes you feel attractive and sexy. Keep your hair soft with conditioner. To make it straight apply a light styling lotion and blow-dry forward using a half paddle brush. Use a flat iron on small sections of your hair for a sleek, straight finish. Don't be obsessive about hair, and if you have a great face, wear it short, although some boys look very cute with longer hair. Don't try too hard to make it look good, keep it kind of messy.
6. Remember, even if you are a really cute guy, girls will not like you if you are full of yourself. So be humble, and even if you know you look good, don't make it too obvious of how sure you are!
7. shave Be sure to shave EVERY DAY for a clean look, especially if you cannot yet grow a full beard. nothing is worse than a crustache.

Try to be confident in yourself. It'll allow you to pull anything off and your "off" days won't be as noticeable. Fake it until you make it! Do have nice, well groomed fingernails and toenails. Don't try to wear clothes that don't fit you. If it's too small, or too big, get it tailored or return it. Play up your fabulousness! If you want kissable lips apply a lip liner, blend, then gloss. Go for a free makeover. Make your way to the makeup counter of your local department store and ask for some assistance trying new colors. If you always wear shades of plum, tell the sales associate to break out the peach tones for a completely new look. You'll go home with a fab new take on your face. Remember, when you feel good, you will start to look good.Dressing skimpy won't get you very far, except probably a one night stand and the label of a slut. Keep your pride intact!Drink plenty of water and remember to keep enriched foods such as vegetables, fish, fruit and wheat in your diet, that will keep your skin glowing.

Smelling good is always attractive! Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush scents smell wonderful, and they are very sweet smelling. You could also get Bath & Bodyworks perfumes as well, they have a variety of scents, a personal favorite is "AppleTini" beauty rush by Victoria secret, so go and try it out! But also keep in mind that not many people will enjoy spending time around you if you overdo it, and some may even be allergic to some scents and will avoid people wearing perfume or cologne.
Remember, a good attitude is key. Being 'pretty' or being 'the sexiest homecoming queen' is not the main object of life. When you have confidence, you show to others and yourself that you don't need makeup to be beautiful. Being beautiful on the inside is what matters, and you will attract a lot of wonderful people your way, versus people who only like you because you're pretty. Don't WANT to be drop dead gorgeous, WANT to make other people feel good around you, then even if you have an off day as far as physical looks are concerned, people will still find you far more attractive if you are approachable and friendly.

Never lose who you truly are. Personality matters a ton more than looks, keep that in mind. But that doesn't mean you should look trashy, either. Chew minty gum and carry mints in your purses. Who wants bad breath?!
Never starve yourself or become anorexic, a serious illness that can have serious consequences. This can lead to illness or in even more serious issues, death Understand that the models and actresses in magazines and the movies have a team of people helping them look that way. Add good lighting and airbrushing out the flaws [And Computers to lift everything and move everything in the face] to the mix. The REALITY is most of us do not have a hairdresser/makeup artist/stylist who is with us 16 hours a day every day. DON'T think that because you don't look like the media image of a "good looking woman" that you are just plain and boring. Be yourself and play up what you do have. Downplay the flaws.

Seattle Summer Sea Fair Celebration

Monday, July 13, 2009

Have you held a wide-eyed child as a beautiful float glides down Fourth Avenue, craned your neck skyward as the Blue Angels suddenly disappear from view, gasped for air as a hydroplane comes out of the north turn bouncing from sponson to sponson? These are just a few of the exhilirating moments you might experience at Seafair.

It’s Seattle’s traditional summer festival. A month-long, region-wide barbecue, that brings an entire community together in celebration. For 59 years Seafair has been about community events, parades, Miss Seafair, the Navy and Coast Guard, amateur athletics, airplanes and of course, boat racing. But most of all, Seafair has been about people and it continues to be.

There are more than 5,000 Seafair volunteers, hundreds of thousand of spectators who come out for the parades and hydroplane races, thousands more that participate in the half marathon, torchlight run and triathlon and the youth who participate in the Miss Seafair Scholarship.

It’s about Drill Teams who practice for hours each week to synchronize their movements, hydroplane crews that fine tune helicopter turbine engines to perfection, the Pirates and Clowns that visit hospitals and convalescent centers in the “off-season” and marching bands that rehearse songs and steps for weeks in preparation of their performances in neighborhoods and through the streets of downtown.

Behind the scenes is a dedicated 40-member Board of Directors, a talented year-round staff of only 12 and a dozen seasonal staff and summer interns that bring it all together.

Seafair is for everyone. Most events are still free and as a recent local newspaper column stated, it’s a part of what makes up a “Quintessential Northwesterner”. Come, and be a part of one of the happenings that makes the Puget Sound area such a great place to live.

Health Care Affordability

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Strong majorities of Americans across the political spectrum would support diverse approaches to expanding health insurance coverage, including letting uninsured adults participate in Medicare or state public insurance programs, such as Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program, offering tax credits for people to purchase coverage on their own or requiring employers to offer and contribute to the cost of their employees' health insurance coverage.

Avoid Drama with Friends

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Being in fights with other people can cause unnecessary stress and aggravation in your life . Because who really wants to have to worry about other people being mad at them , and sometimes even talking behind their backs ? I have to admit have not any fights with others, just experinced cursing someone who really annoyed me one time :)),follow these steps to avoid having drama in your life .

1. NEVER talk badly about other people behind their backs, no matter what. It may be a fun thing to do at the time, because there's a whole other group of people doing it, but most of the time it comes back to haunt you. The person will find out and if it's a friend of yours, it can cause a fight.
2. Be nice to everyone! There's no reason to be mean to others, even if they start something with you first. It'll keep everything more peaceful and calm that way.
3. Occasionally when it's needed, try putting other's before yourself. Like, if your friend is having troubles at home, and they need to get out of the house and just talk, maybe you can stop what you're doing (if you're doing something that isn't too important) and go help your friend. People will think of you as a better person, and won't really have a reason to be mad at you.
4. STAY OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S DRAMA! There's no reason for you to get into the middle of someone else's fight. Let them work it out on their own. Because whenever people do this, even if it's just to help a friend, you usually get dragged into it and end up having people turned against you in one way or another (this doesn't apply to putting other's before yourself, in some situations you really can't).

Note: If you fight fire with fire, all you get is a bigger fire.

If you do get into an unexpected fight with a friend, try to resolve it as soon as possible, before it gets out of control and something small turns into you losing a good friend of yours. If you hear someone talking badly about one of your friends, the best you can do is pretty much just let it go . I know the person is a good friend and all, but if you go tell them what you heard, it may get out that you're the one that told your friend about it, causing other people to get mad at you. Don't let other's walk all over you. Putting people before yourself occasionally is okay. But letting them walk all over you because of it is not okay. Lying about things is bad. Its never a good thing, sometimes the truth hurts but lying hurts more.

There are some people out there that no matter what you do or how nice you are that will just start stuff with you for no reason at all. These people are just full of drama and you should just ignore them and not have anything to do with them. Don't lie all the time, only when you desperately need to. I know lying is wrong, but sometimes you just have to do it. But don't do it too much or you WILL get caught. Don't go on jeremy kyle.

Personal, One Word Tag & Spread The love tag award

Wednesday, July 8, 2009

Got these three tags from David some bloggers called him Mr"D". Anywho, thanks david for including me on your list.

The rules are simple:

1. Open this website: Personality Test

2. Take the Personality Quiz. (It's very short and easy really!)

3. Copy paste the result to your blog.

4. Tag as many friends you can and link to the friend who tagged you!

Here are the results:

Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are not looking merely for a girl/boyfriend - you are looking for your life partner. Perhaps you should be more open-minded about who you spend time with. The person you are looking for might hide their charm under their exterior.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on education
Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.

The right job for you:
You have many goals and want to achieve as much as you can. The jobs you enjoy are those that let you burn off your considerable excess energy.

How do you view success:
Success in your career is not the most important thing in life. You are content with what you have and think that being with someone you love is more than spending all of your precious time just working.

What are you most afraid of:
You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

I must say this quiz is very interesting, I enjoy doing it.

How to Celebrate Independence Day

Thursday, July 2, 2009

The United States Independence Day is a holiday to celebrate the separation from Great Britain and declaring independence from the country. Traditionally, many people celebrate this day with picnics, parades, and fireworks. Independence Day lands on July 4th.

Hang a United States flag from your house roof, car, or get a flag pin to put on your clothes. Get someone to draw the flag on your cheek with washable finger paint. Some citizens choose to wear clothes that have the U.S. flag design on them.
Show your support by watching a local 4th of July parade in your community or city. Be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water, depending on how long you'll be in the sun for. Get into the parade spirit by waving back at the participants or clapping while U.S. veterans pass by.

Enjoy a barbecue or picnic with family or friends. Get together around at least 1 pm or so to spend the afternoon together. Traditionally, 4th of July food consists of hamburgers, hot dogs, and watermelon. Please remember if you are using public usage, such as parks or beaches, to clean after yourselves. Pop fireworks or attend a fireworks show provided by the city at night. Most states have laws against fireworks for personal use depending on the type or size of it. Some states also have laws pertaining to the time range citizens are allowed to pop fireworks, for example, everyone needs to stop by midnight or 1 am.

If you want to read on the history, Wikipedia has articles on the Declaration of Independence and the Continental Congress.Independence or 4th of July is considered a federal holiday. This means federal employees are considered to get their normal pay rate, in addition to holiday pay. Private banks, all schools, and non-federal businesses and offices are closed for this day.

1. Choose a diet. Choose a diet that will fit in with your lifestyle. If you work long hours, find something that will require less exercising time. If you are too busy to cook or if you don't enjoy cooking, consider a diet based on meal-replacement protein shakes such as Herbalife's ShapeWorks diet programs that are easy and quick to prepare. If you have time and enjoy planning a meal, then you may prefer a diet program that allows for three meals each day and more numerous food choices such as Weight Watchers.
2. Consider the intensity that you want. If you want to lose a lot of weight, be prepared to include exercise into your daily regime and perhaps more restrictive dietary habits. However, be aware that it is generally not considered healthy to lose more than 1 to 2 pounds per week, so don't try to lose too much too fast.
3. Take the necessary time to learn about the diet program.Take time to learn about the diet program you choose to ensure that you follow the program closely. A diet is like a child or a relationship - it takes the proper amount of devotion and responsibility to make it work out.
4. Investigate the benefits of all of the diets you are considering. You also might want to consult your doctor before you begin a diet, to ensure safety.

When you are a beginning dieter, take baby steps. Don't do anything too extreme because it will be too hard and it will discourage you. Many people find that keeping a food journal can be helpful in the beginning while they are acquiring new eating habits. Remember that dieting isn't strictly what you eat. It also takes exercise to make it work. When dieting, you want to utilize your time between work and exercise. You don't want to over-work or over-exercise. A healthy diet also includes drinking sufficient amounts of water, generally 64 oz daily. The best diet is one that works for you and you can stick with.Be sure to stay focus on yourself first, that is what is important. be safe during workout process...

Don't binge or crash diet. Unnatural diets will hurt your body in the long run. Make sure you follow a healthy approach for good nutrition. Balance your diet with a daily multi-vitamin tablet and other nutritional supplements you may need.
Don't be afraid to diet. It may be hard, but it's definitely worth it. Maintaining a healthy weight is perhaps the single most important step you can take toward improving your health and lifestyle. Dieting might even make you happier than you are now, and little more attractive. Studies have shown that losing weight can improve your self-esteem, as well as your sex life.
