Eat Escargot

Monday, March 16, 2009

Decided to pretend you're French? Or maybe you are just looking for something to do on a bet.
Find somewhere you can get Escargot. A fancy restaurant downtown, or something similar. Order the Escargot. Some facilities might have different flavors or types of snails. Garlic, butter, spicy, all sorts. If you are squeamish at the idea of snails, but still want to try them, pretend they are small pieces of pork. The texture is not that odd, but it can be disturbing for first-timers. Sometimes escargot are served in an odd-looking plate. It is ceramic, with small, escargot shaped indentations in it. The snails are placed in these indentations with a sauce, or liquid of sorts. Use a fork to eat them, not your hands. Using your hands is impolite, and frowned upon. Chew, and swallow. If you have friends or family with you, comment on the taste. Enjoy the rest of your meal!

Have water on hand, in case you do not like the taste.Snails are not often eaten, so if you have an allergy to them, you might not know. Be careful in general when eating new foods, especially in foreign places. Cooked escargot can be hot, watch your tongue.
