Have a Festive Halloween

There is no better way to get Hallowe'en off to a good start than with a nice Witch's Brew...along with some delicious Halloween snacks.

Do the Prep ahead of time. Make some finger sandwiches (using lunchmeats, cheese and mayonnaise or mustard); thread the green or black olives (or both) on a toothpick, then stick them onto the top of each finger sandwich. Prepare the cookies ahead of time and place them on a festive tray. Peel and slice the oranges, set aside...they will later be added to the punch.You should spring in to action by setting the mood for a thrilling and chilling Halloween, and there is no better place to start than some festive decorations; hang some (orange and black) streamers, Skeletons, Witches, Dracula, and, naturally, a Mummy or two...this is the time of year for "Spooks and Goblins" so you may want to hang a ghosts as well. Before it is time to begin the Hallowe'en celebration, pour the fruit punch and soda into the punch bowl and add orange slices. Then move on to the next step. You'll need to take an ice pick or knife to chisel a fairly good size chunk of the dried ice; then add it to the fruit punch. It will steam, just like a Witch's brew, and it will delight your family and guests. Have all the goodies, such as the snacks, paper plates and napkins, on the dining room table or a coffee table in your living room. Dim lighting will work best for this type of celebration. You may want to use candles if the lighting in your house is too bright and they can be kept safely out of reach. Keep things on the spooky and eerie side, hey, it's Hallowe'en.

You may want to serve chips and a dip, as well. If so, Kraft Dips is a very good choice, such as the creamy ranch.In order to make perfect finger sandwiches, use a sharp knife and cut each sandwich in half lengthwise, then the same widthwise...you can't go wrong.The small Rye breads are a good alternate plan to making finger sandwiches, for they are just the right size. Salami on rye works well, along with some mustard.For the kiddies, you may want to have on hand their all-time favorite sandwich: peanut butter and jelly or jam. For a healthier choice, reduced fat peanut butter is recommended and sugar-free raspberry preserves works great in place of the jelly or jam. Other party favorites that you may want to have on hand include: pretzels, Chex party mix, peanuts or mixed nuts. Festive homemade cupcakes or store-bought ones will work well also. Keep all candles in a safe place, and check them at least once an hour. If a fan or A/C vent is blowing directly on them, you will want to give them a half-turn every hour to keep the wax burning evenly. Never touch dry ice without protecting your hands and learning how to handle it beforehand! It can cause very serious injuries when handled carelessly. Don't assume it to be harmless because it looks fun to have around.

I got an email from my sister-in-law this morning and I just want to share this here to warn people.

She's been getting a lot of these here lately - went to IRS website and it has an alert posted on their site regarding these email.

In recent weeks, a phony e-mail claiming to come from the IRS has been circulating in large numbers. The subject line of the e-mail often states that the e-mail is a notice of underreported income. The e-mail may contain an attachment or a link to a bogus Web page directing taxpayers to their "tax statement." In either case, when the recipient opens the attachment or clicks on the link, they download a Trojan horse-type of virus to their computers.

Malicious code (also known as malware), of which the Trojan horse is but one example, can take over the victim’s computer hard drive, giving someone remote access to the computer, or it could look for passwords and other information and send them to the scammer. The scammer will then use whatever information they gather to commit identity theft, gain access to bank accounts and more.

The IRS does not send unsolicited e-mails to taxpayers about their tax accounts. Anyone who receives an unsolicited e-mail claiming to come from the IRS should avoid opening any attachments or clicking on any links. People can report suspicious e-mails they receive which claim to come from the IRS to a mailbox set up for this purpose, phishing@irs.gov. Those who believe they may already be victims of identity theft should find out what do by going to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Web site, OnGuardOnLine.gov.

How to Maintain a Friendship

When you really build up a friendship you'll want to make sure it stays forever. So here are some tips for maintaining that relationship with your friend!

1. Appreciate your friends. Friends are like being on the toilet... you can dump on them, and everything you dump will eventually flush away.
2. Make sure it's two-sided. You don't want to be the only one trying to make the friendship work out. The other person has to do the same, or else all your work would be for nothing.
3. Show interest.Make your friend feel special. Again with the two-sided thing, it shouldn't be all about them.
4. Have fun together.
5. Trust each other.
6. Cry together. Be there for your friend, and if they feel the same way about you, they will be there for you.
7. Support each other through good times and bad. Even if they aren't very popular, stick by their side. They will truly appreciate that.
8. Understand that in every friendship there will be arguments. But it doesn't mean that the friendship is over.
9. Keep in touch. This applies especially if your friend lives far away.

When you have an argument, don't fight or insult each other; just talk about it!Always have patience in your friend's fault,it takes time to do the right thing. A true friendship is something that can stand the test of time. Simply because you haven't spoken or met your friend in years, does not mean that you are friends no longer.
