How to Find Peace

Saturday, September 12, 2009

Looking for peace? Here's how to relax and find peace in the serenity of your mind:

1. Find a quiet, special place - either inside or outdoors.
2. Remove all distraction.
3. Sit in a relaxed position. Get yourself comfortable.
4. Put your hands on your lap or in any comfortable position.
5. Close your eyes.
6. Focus carefully on your natural breathing. Concentrate on each inhale and each exhale.
7. Take several long, deep breaths intermittently.
8. Think about a long winding river to achieve greater stillness.
9. Let your body and mind relax. Leave the rest of the world behind.
10. Notice how much easier it is to concentrate when you are done. You'll feel soothed and much happier.
11. Practice this often. Practice will perfect your technique.

To get ongoing access to this peace from within, live life peacefully as well.
Complement this practice with namasmaran and pranayam. Retain focus and conviction. Subclinical neuroendocrine and autonomic imbalances may cause disturbance in your mind. Hindus & Buddhists who use this technique claim to achieve enlightenment.

Mental exercise or physical exertion cannot create the experience of peace, but they allow you to get a glimpse of the peace within.
